M2 Hard Core Black Powdercoat 1990-2005 Miata with glass or plastic rear window softop |
This roll bar were originally designed to meet the requirements for participation in the now defunct SCCA Solo 1 class. Some venues continue to utilize these specifications. Check the rules for the particular event in which you plan to participate as the event organizers have the final word on safety requirements.
This series of bars are legal for, and actually exceed the requirements, for the current SCCA Time Trials, SCCA Solo and NASA HPDE events.
Stock seats and belts are compatible for the competitor that wants to maintain a dual purpose car for street and track events.

The M2 Hard Core models fit all Miata chassis from 1990 - 2005. Specifically designed for the second generation Mazda glass rear window convertible tops or equivalent size aftermarket glass window installed on a first generation Miata. The M2 Hard Core are also compatible will all flexible plastic rear window tops. See FAQ for details.
Single or Double diagonal versions available. Glass window compatible Harness Tabs for "V" configured bolt-in harness shoulder straps are standard on the M2 Hard Core.
A Bolt-In Harness Bar is needed for situations requiring individual mounting of wrap-around harness shoulder straps.

The Standard M2 Hard Core is the tallest design possible with a functional top but not necessarily the best choice for tall drivers using stock seats because of the more forward placement of the main hoop. We recommend the Hard Core Hardtop version or Sport models for most drivers over 5' 9" with unmodified stock seats. You can see the main hoop placement in the Schematic View below.
The Standard M2 Hard Core is not designed for use with a hardtop. The M2 Hard Core Hardtop is built for use with the Mazda hardtop.

Use measurements above to measure fightment in relation to driver. The Hard Core is the tallest bar but also sits the farthest forward. If you need the roll bar farther back, consider the Hard Core Hardtop, Sport or Ace.

What are harness tabs?
The biggest question we get regarding this roll bar is how is it different than the M1 Hard Core. The M2 bar utilizes harness tabs instead of a harness bar. This allows clearance for the soft top glass rear window. We offer forged eye-bolts and harness clip-ins to utilize the harness tabs with a multi-point race harness. At right you can see the harness tab in use. They are located behind the seats and just below the rear deck.
