Three items TDR would suggest during your installation. Upgrade to the SS braided clutch line for a more linear engagement. Second, order the TDR transmission seal and gasket kit and the large and small shift boots. These items usually need to be replaced during a clutch job. And third, TDR recommends that you use Motul 75W90 Gear Oil, Red Line MTL or Red Line MT-90 (2 quarts) for the gear box and Motul or Red Line 75W90 High Performance Gear Oil (1 quart) for the differential.

Just about every Miata with over 50K miles has one or more of the transmission seals leaking. If you are doing a clutch replacement you should replace the transmission seals and the engine rear main seal.

Replaced the original at 110k miles and it was going to need it within another 20k. The grooves in the OEM disk were gone at the center edges and the pilot bearing fell out when I removed the assembly. Also the input shaft seal was leaking. This is a non-boosted '02. The pedal feel is no stiffer than the OEM, but the old grease on the clutch splines and the release bearing was so dried out that may have been getting getting stiff. I changed the clutch preparing for a Rotrex. I also installed a 12lb flywheel which is pretty awesome. Very happy with this kit.
